Combatives Commando Hand to Hand Combat "Silent Killing" Unarmed, Fairbairn Sykes Dagger Knife Fighting,m and Point Shooting Fighting developed by W.E. Fairbairn in early 1920s Shanghai Police & used during WWII by Commandos & Special Operations Executive "Secret Agents" (Now called MI6, and yes 007 James Bond fictional character was inspired by the 'silent Killing' combatives program as Ian Fleming creator of James Bond 007 was assigned to Fairbairns Top Secret WWII Silent Killing Hand to Hand Combat program which was based in the mysterious "Camp X" in Canada, after the original training program in early WWII was at a secret location in Scotland.
Combatives Hand to Hand Combat is a deadly simple battle tested fighting style, and Krav Maga "borrowed" all the ideas of gun disarms, weapons disarms, and military special force hand to hand combat from Fairbairns combatives, which in the 1920s for a brief period he called "Defendu".
Your Krav Maga will be enhanced if you work in Fairbairn Combatives and you will learn how much damage you really can do with variations of strikes like a krav maga palm shot technique, that few Krav Maga people know about. Below I shall tell you why few know the real facts.
The bad news if you do not learn the lethal variations of overlook left out of kravmaga techniques. This can mean if you do not know the lethal variations of a plam strike technique, then it is very logical for me to tell you, your Palm Strike is "Watered Down" and Inferior to what it could be. It is your ass that is going to get battered on the street if you gamble on being average. Instructors of inferior watered down systems who claim to be lean mean fighting machines, are dangerous liabilities whose irresponsibility and "gaumless" innocence and zero experience of having being in real street fights, are teaching methods, selling false hope, that is going to get innocent people killed on the street some day. A few years of door work in night venues as a bouncer in discos, night clubs, or a few years of wild living it up keeping the bouncers busy is good street experience, and if your instructor has walked the path of physical street fights in the past, then you will usually learn the 'truths of street self defense" via your Krav maga training. Unfortunately most instructors do not have this experience, and "talk through their arse".
Few people, especially the "could not punch their way out of a wet paper bag" martial art "paper tigers" or ego driven true masters of Krav Maga types bickering over Krav Maga "fiefdoms" are actually ignorant or in denial of fact that Krav Maga is a Usurper claiming ownership & invention of things like gun disarms, military hand to hand combat, & even "Point Shooting" (that was developed in USA circa 1850's) , who are fast to discount the simple Combatives Fairbairn system. They ignorantly do not realize that Fairbairn, and in particular Pat O'Neill were some of the first ever Westerners to get high Dan Black Belt ranks in Judo certified after training in the Judo Kodokan in Japan in the 20s and after WWII also. Interestingly these highly graded Judo & Jujitsu experts did not include (aside from some Choking Strangles) any grappling moves in the "Dirty Strike" orientated Combatives system.
The fact is Fairbarin & his colleagues such as Bill Sykes, and Pat O'Neill had battle tested Combatives in the Shanghai Police Riot Squad over 2000 times, if which over 700 incidents there were mainly gangsters killed involved CQC hand to hand combat, knifes, weapons & close quarter battle CQB point shooting back in Shanghai in the 1920s. Before Fairbairn took Assistant Inspector of Shanghai Police job, the Shanghai gangsters were killing police at record cop killing levels. Then the Fairbairn Combatives System was used in the Silent Killing Commando Hand to Hand Fighting training where Fairbairn, Sykes, O'Neill and later U.S. Military officer Rex Applegate who Fairbarin instructed began spreading the system to U.S. military units.

W.E. Fairbairn along with others such as Sykes, O'Neill developed Combatives when serving in China when with the Shanghai Police in early 20th Century and 1920s, and training this amazing simple deadly unarmed, & armed, Western Street Fighting Systems which was taught in WWII to the Allied Commandos, the Special Operations Executive S.O.E and later on in WWII Col. Rex Applegate instructed USA, Allied, & the O.S.S. a forerunner of the C.I.A. the Fairbairn Hand to Hand Combat Combatives method or "Silent Killing" as this deadly lethal street self defense commando fighting method was called.
Combatives is still taught in more or less the original style to many special force military units & law & intelligence agents who work undercover. Minus the most lethal kill aspects, Combatives is certainly and totally what Krav Maga was copied from. Gun disarm techniques where taught by Col. W.E. Fairbarin as far back as 1914 the evidence in a training manual I have Fairbairn wrote for Shanghai Police dated 1914 which is about 50 years before Krav Maga was developed in the early 1960s. Krav Maga borrowed most of its techniques from the Combatives system.
For the civilian
street self defense combatives minus the extreme "Killing" methods is an excellent simple basic self defense system that can be learned fast. In fact many of those brave people who during World War 2 worked for the Special Operations Executive as Undercover Secret Agents had to use combatives in real do or die
Combat Self Defence Kill or Get Killed situations, and they got at most 2 - 3 days training in "Silent Killing" Combatives Hand to Hand method developed by Fairbairn.
